About
Nosce te ipsum. Ok. I might know myself (or think I do), but that is a long way from putting it into words. Trying to describe yourself to people who don’t know you can be a frustrating, painful, and at times humiliating experience. So here I go…
I taught myself to program and was trained as a chemist. I have been a scientist, a bank teller, a consultant and now I am an engineering manager. If you think about it they all pretty much describe people who don’t know too much, but think they do. At least it describes me.
I am the embodiment of someone who proverbially “knows just enough to get themselves in trouble.” That is not to say that I don’t know what I am talking about. I strive to be accurate and truthful when I speak, and when I don’t know I ask questions.
“Actually” is a word I try not to use, as it has led to much misery in my life. At best I have said it before cluing someone into the inaccuracy of their ramblings. At worst I say it when just being down right disagreeable. Naturally, I have even said it to myself.
But learning is my absolute favorite thing to do, and that is why I am here. So please take a minute to read what I have written and more importantly tell me how I am full of garbage. But before you do, you should make sure you are right or be prepared for a retort that will start with something like, “Actually…”
